The Buea council under the patronage of Mayor EKEMA Patrick has organized a forum to train youths in management and local governance for sustainable development of the nation. The educative programme organized in collaboration with the international government institute from the U.K brought together Mayors, D.Os, administrative and traditional authorities and participants of all walks of life to grease its launching on July 04, 2016.

Presiding over the launching ceremony, secretary general at the governor’s office Clement Fon Ndikum applauded the mayors’ efforts and ideas. He described it as a project that has come to correct misappropriation of public funds and corruption. He urged participants to put full interest and challenged them to use the acquired knowledge judiciously

The project that will run for four days is opened to public servants, entrepreneurs, graduates and individuals wishing to improve their skills in management and governance

In his speech, Mayor Ekema said it was just one of the council’s successive plans. It could boast of haven provided some public amenities and a successful organization of holiday classes to run in three schools in the Buea municipality. To him, Buea council x-rayed the Buea municipality 3years ago and a quest to achieve a platform for next level development was found. This therefore was one of the results, considering the fact that without good governance growth will be difficult. Hence empowering citizens to be pro-active will speed participation and help in the realization of certain goals

Therefore, BMF (Buea Municipal Fellowship) as it is called has to come to enrich the Buea municipality. At the end, it is expected that about 10,000 private sector administrators should have received adequate training in the next 7years. Connecting our municipal human capital to Cameroon’s vision 2035 plan is the ultimate goal.
